- Manufactured from top quality materials, right here in the USA
- Clean - Exhaust components to be cover must degreased and cleaned to remove all chemicals and debris prior to installation, failure to do so may result in combustion.
- Mockup - We recommend making a template from paper, cardboard or poster board to prevent mis-cuts during installation. Template should cover top and sides of runners, take note of spark plug boots or wire harnesses in the vicinity as HP Header Armor and accommodate accordingly on your template (Warning: Header Armor is electrically conductive). Keep template 1/4"-1/2" oversize on all dimensions so you can fold over the ends for a finished edge. For tight bends, cut a small wedge from the aluminum portion rather than allowing it to bunch up.
- Test Fit - Cut out the template you made and test fit. If you are not happy with the results mockup a new template making the tweaks you want.
- Finalize - Once you have a template you are satisfied with, trace it onto the Heatshield armor and cut with a pair of heavy duty scissors. Test fit this piece and make any final cuts or adjustments that may be needed. Use a utility knife to trim insulation back from the 1/4" or 1/2" over sizing you used. Fold the exposed aluminum down to cover the edge of the insulation.
- Install - Now that you have your customize HP Header Armor, place the piece in the desired location. Take one of the supplied wires and form it into a "U" Shape. Use one end to pierce the outer aluminum of the armor closest to the cylinder head on one side of the exhaust pipe. Use the other end of wire to make a hole on the other side of the exhaust pipe. The two ends of wire should meet on the opposite side of the exhaust pipe. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to twist them together and tighten the wire, trim away any excess, then tuck the twisted portion under the armor with the tip towards the insulation. Repeat this process in as many locations as needed for a tight fit.
